A funny song aired on the radio expressed how much the singer’s life would be better after he’s had his operation. Often people think God has made a mistake and the cure is surgery to “improve” the human body. We know that surgeries are needed to help get our body rid of a disease, but it isn’t possible to add new features or correct what some perceive as design flaws in the body. We can also ask that question about other living systems. Can we put wings on a dolphin? Can we redesign a pomegranate? Should we cut off our fingernails because they are part of our evolutionary past?
