Slavery didn’t end when Abraham Lincoln gave the Emancipation Proclamation or when William Wilberforce campaigned to make it illegal in England. It went underground and is still a major problem today. Human Trafficking is often the fate of immigrants, legal and illegal. Often they are brought in to work in restaurants, car washes, prostitution or organized crime, and because they are forced to work in deplorable conditions under the threat of being reported, the abuse can be horrendous. David and Ann Harris participates in the program offered by the Salvation Army to rescue those who have escaped from these situations and they transport them to a safe house hundreds of miles away where they go through a rehabilitation program. The practice of slavery goes deep into the human condition from ancient times and it is always part of the evil nature of humanity to bring people into submission to forced labor.
