What is the Gospel?
God sent His son Jesus Christ to earth, to become one of us, and to die on the cross in our stead for forgiveness of sins. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." Romans 3:10-12
The wages of sin is [eternal] death (Romans 6:23).
The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23b).
Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
What is sin, and where did it come from?
It comes from the story of Adam and Eve in Genesis.
God created the world to be perfect, with only one stipulation: not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
The serpent tempted Eve who ate from the tree and gave the fruit to Adam who was with her, who also ate.
They were told by the serpent that their eyes would be opened and that they shall be as like gods, knowing good and evil.
That choice, multiplied today with that kind of temptation, drives the propagation of evil in the world.
How does evolution destroy the power of the gospel?
Lyell in his Principles of Geology, made it clear that he intended to refute the authority of the Bible by proposing millions of years of earth history as a refutation of the timeline of the Bible.
Darwin was angry at God because his favorite daughter died at 10 years old. His motive for proposing the theory of evolution was a means to kill God.
Because the founders of evolution theory were ardent opponents of Christianity and the Bible, we should not regard them as scientific authorities, nor should we attempt to reconcile the Bible to their theories.
Bible scholars should not have to apologize for the Bible contradicting scientific error and lies.
What are some of the compromise positions?
Day-age theory
Gap Theory
Theistic Evolution
Framework Hypothesis
