Dr. Jerry Bergman joins us to discuss how peer pressure causes people to make wrong choices about their spiritual life. Standing up for the truth can be difficult and it is tragic that church leaders cave in to accept and teach unscientific theories with poor theological scholarship because it gives the illusion of being tolerant and accepting. Theistic evolution is just that, a worldview that has evolutionary roots with a thin veneer of spirituality. Jerry Bergman documents victims of persecution of Christian believers who are withheld degrees, fired or denied tenure because they openly acknowledge a Christian or creationist worldview. Creationist articles have rarely been accepted for publication in secular refereed journals. Because of this, most creation scientists do not submit them any more. And creationist journals are unavailable in most public and college libraries. Because of all this, it is very unlikely that an outspoken creationist could get through the system intact. Christians often take on 'protective coloration' by accepting scientific orthodoxy but adding a Christian footnote to it. This is no threat to their peers because it fits the prevailing cultural idea that something can be 'true for you, but not for me'.
