Problems with Subduction and Catastrophic Plate Tectonics
Curtis Hammitt analyzes the standard geology plate tectonics theory and the creationist Catastrophic Plate Tectonics version as opposed to the Hydroplate model. The biggest objection to both models is the intense amount of heat the movement of the plates would generate, causing rocks to liquify and subduct into the mantle. Proponents of the Catastrophic Plate Tectonics model would need to appeal to a miracle by God to dissipate the heat generated by rapid movement of the continents. Since the Hydroplate model has the continents moving on a subterranean bed of water, it poses a lot fewer problems.
